OUR HISTORY

1986

A group of Spanish investors establish Culmárex with the intention of cultivating yellowtail and oysters in the Hornillo bay, Águilas, Murcia.

1990-1996

Norwegian company "Marine Farms" acquires 100% of Culmárex and starts farming Seabream and Seabass.

1997

Transfer of farming operations to the current location in “Cala Barilla”, Barilla Cove, Águilas, Murcia.

1998-2002

Incorporation of Piagua marine farm in Almeria, Basademar in Alicante and Aquicultura Balear in Palma de Mallorca, the current hatchery and nursery of the Culmárex Group.

2003-2007

Culmárex Group incorporates Gramabasa in Santa Pola (Alicante), Blue & Green in San Pedro del Pinatar (Murcia), and Cultivos del Ponto in Málaga.

2008

The whole Culmárex Group is certified in the Integrated Management System based on ISO 9001: 2000, ISO 14001: 2004 and OHSAS 18001: 2007. It is the first Spanish aquaculture company to obtain these certifications.

2009

Culmárex Group receives the 5th Jacumar Award from the Ministry of Environment, Rural and Marine Affairs for their commitment and environmental management.

2010

First Spanish company to obtain the "Friend of the Sea" certification for each and every one of its marine farms. Acquisition of Pescaviva Real in Carboneras, Almería.

2011

Cooke Aquaculture Inc., one of the largest salmon producers in the world, buys Culmárex, becoming the leader of Spanish Aquaculture.

2012-2013

Lebeche Spain joins Culmárex Group, with 3 workplaces in Murcia and Almeria, and the incorporation of Bersolaz Spain, in Puerto de Sagunto (Valencia).

PACKAGING PLANT

The Packaging plant of Culmárex Group is in Águilas, Murcia, where the Seabream and Seabass arrive daily having been harvested along our coasts from dusk till dawn, where it is sorted and packed in special boxes to preserve their freshness and flavour, arriving in homes in just 24 hours after harvesting. In addition, each and every Seabream and Seabass from Culmárex is identified with a small label attached to its gills, a guarantee for the consumers of our origin and our brand.

HEAD OFFICE

In our head office, located in the town of Águilas, Murcia, we have functions that include: Administration and Finance, Human Resources, Purchasing and Marketing, Laboratory and Veterinary, among many other areas.

MARKETING
